Last May Bank Holiday weekend, I had the privilege of spending an unforgettable few days in Palma with 38 of my incredible travel team. This wasn’t just any trip – it was a chance to connect with the team, who, despite having worked together for months through support chats and Zoom training, many of us were meeting in person for the first time.

We stayed at the Melia Calviá Beach, a hotel that delivered luxury, relaxation, and the perfect setting for a team retreat. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was buzzing with excitement as team members flew in from different UK airports. Here’s a recap of our weekend, complete with details of where we stayed, ate, and enjoyed ourselves.

The Melia Calviá Beach: A Touch of Elegance

The Melia Calviá Beach is a stunning beachfront hotel nestled in a prime location in Palma/Magaluf. With its modern design, incredible sea views, and an array of top-notch amenities, it was the ideal choice for our group.

We were particularly thrilled with The Level, an exclusive upgrade that added an extra layer of luxury to our stay. The champagne breakfast was a highlight – a spread of delicious breakfast dishes paired with a glass of bubbly, setting the tone for each day. Throughout the day, we also enjoyed complimentary tapas and drinks at the private lounge, making us feel truly pampered.

The spacious pool areas, surrounded by lush gardens and offering direct access to the beach, became our hub for relaxation. The hotel’s friendly staff and exceptional service ensured everything ran smoothly, allowing us to focus on making memories.

Friday Evening: Drinks and Fun at Iroko

On Friday night, we headed to Iroko, a lively venue where we had a private area just for our group. The atmosphere was vibrant, with stylish décor and an upbeat energy. For three hours, we indulged in unlimited beer, wine, cava, house spirits, and soft drinks – a fantastic way to kick off the weekend.

The team spirit was incredible as we laughed, chatted, and got to know one another better. Iroko’s attentive service and party vibe made it the perfect venue for our first evening together.

Saturday: Champagne, Nikki Beach, and Magaluf Nights

After another indulgent champagne breakfast at The Level, we spent Saturday soaking up the sunshine at Nikki Beach, conveniently located right next door to the hotel.

Nikki Beach is renowned for its luxurious vibes, live music, and stunning beachfront setting. We hired plush sunbeds and spent the day lounging, dancing, and enjoying the electric atmosphere by the pool. The live DJ set the mood with upbeat tunes as we sipped cocktails and made unforgettable memories together.

As the evening rolled around, some of the team ventured into Magaluf to experience its famous nightlife, exploring lively bars and soaking in the vibrant party scene. Meanwhile, others opted for a more relaxed evening back at the hotel, where we enjoyed drinks at the bar and were treated to fantastic live entertainment.

Sunday: Poolside Bliss and Exploring Palma Town

Sunday was a day of choice. Some of us stayed by the hotel pool, enjoying the relaxed pace of the day with Aperol Spritz in hand, while others ventured into Palma Town for some sightseeing.

Palma Town is a must-visit destination, blending rich history with modern charm. Highlights included the magnificent Cathedral of Santa Maria (La Seu), quaint cobblestone streets, and boutique shops. The town’s vibrant cafés and traditional Spanish eateries provided plenty of options for those who wanted to sample local cuisine.

Sunset Dinner at Illeta Restaurant

Our final evening was spent at the breathtaking Illeta Restaurant, located on Camp de Mar Beach. Recommended by one of our team members, this was an experience to remember.

The restaurant is perched on a rocky islet connected to the beach by a wooden bridge, creating a unique and romantic setting. We enjoyed a delicious Mediterranean meal as the sun set over the sea, casting a warm glow across the water. From fresh seafood to perfectly prepared mains, every dish was exquisite. The peaceful sound of waves crashing against the rocks made it the perfect way to end our weekend together.

Heading Home on Monday

On Monday morning, we shared one last breakfast at the Melia Calviá Beach, reminiscing about the incredible moments we’d shared over the weekend. Then, it was time to say our goodbyes and head back to the UK, already looking forward to our next team retreat.

Final Thoughts

Our weekend in Palma was the perfect mix of relaxation, fun, and connection. The Melia Calviá Beach provided an amazing base for our stay, while venues like Iroko, Nikki Beach, and Illeta Restaurant added unforgettable experiences.

Whether you’re planning a team retreat, a getaway with friends, or just a luxurious holiday, Palma has it all – stunning beaches, vibrant nightlife, and a touch of elegance. This trip was a true testament to the power of teamwork and the joy of creating memories with like-minded people.

If you’re considering a trip to Palma, I couldn’t recommend it more highly – and being part of a travel team like mine, moments like these make it all worthwhile!
